Guatemala city
Guatemala City is the capital of the Republic of Guatemala, as well as the head of the department of Guatemala. Its full name is the New Guatemala of the Assumption. The population of Guatemala City is 3,015,081 inhabitants according to the census of 2018. The city is located in a valley in the south central region of the country, which sometimes can cause air pollution to concentrate in the city, despite the large amount of green space available in the city. Currently, the municipality has promoted an initiative to keep the city clean, permanently.
Quetzaltenango
It is the second largest city in Guatemala to having a high economic level and production, currently being considered as one of the main cities of Guatemala because of the development of its industrial and commercial activity. Also Quetzaltenango has several schools, as well as some of the most renowned universities in Guatemala.
The city is the metropolis of the western highlands (it is 7,500 ft. /2,286 m above sea level) and the second city of Guatemala. The city has much diversified light industry, including textile manufacturing and brewing. The development of hydroelectric power has helped make it a leading industrial city of Central America.
Puerto Barrios
It is an important city port of Guatemala and the departmental head located in Amatique Bay, capital of the department of Izabal, on the arm of the Caribbean Sea. Is located at 297 km from the capital. It was named after the Guatemalan politician Justo Rufino Barrios. Until the early 1970s the foreign-dominated deep water port handled more trade than any other in Guatemala.
It has a large business in the Port Santo Tomas de Castilla and Puerto Barrios, where cruise and commercial ships dock and trade. From this point you can start the tour of the Dulce River, in an area of 42 km.
